HERE WE ARE IN THE CHURCH

Here we are in the church,
we’re the hands of the One who lives,
we’re the love of the One who gives
his life each day.
We’re the body of Christ,
and we witness to his name.
Broken people in community,
ev’ry foible plain enough to see;
God we carry your flame,
send us inward for change;
let your justice and love remain.

Here we are in the world,
in the heart of another day,
as we dream of another way
with Jesus Christ.
We are many and one,
in our proud diversity.
Though the dark comes as a stowaway,
still the stable light won’t fade away.
Send us outward we pray,
walk beside us and stay,
tender Jesus, come walk our way.

Here we are in this land,
with its roots in the Dreamtime,
and with Jesus, our paradigm,
where we might love.
Here we are in this place,
full of tears and mystery;
pray renewal, which is still our need,
and confessing with fresh words and deeds:
welcome pilgrims by sea,
bring the hurting release,
be the hands that will serve their need.

WAIT ON LOVE

Here we are gathered on this Sunday morning,
welcome to each and every one.
Turn to your brother and your sister beside you
and greet them every single one.

Sunshine or rain, red dust or green shoot dawning,
Spirit’s in this land, it is our home (what a home!)
So let our family celebrate what we have here
and let our love and joy be shown (to one another!)

Yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
for our God is love.

Each of us brings our gifts and our own story
filled with our pain and joy and tears,
but we will walk as one across this country,
holding the faith throughout the years.

Now Jesus spoke of Abba’s wide open homeland,
a place where all the lost can meet;
and every prodigal that makes their way here
receives a ring and welcome seat (it’s your inheritance!)

Yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
for our God is love.

We will remember all our friends who are absent,
in prisons, hospitals or camps (young and old!)
All those out bush or those in far flung lands,
all those who need a helping hand (that’s what they’re for!)

Yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
yes, we will wait on love,
for our God is love,
for our God is love,
for our God is love,
for our God is love.
