Words by David Froemming & Leigh Newton. Music by David Froemming © 2017

Liturgical use: Affirmation, Word, Mission

Scripture reference/s: John 6, John 14, Luke 4, Lord's Prayer

This lively melody almost feels like a marching tune. The lyrics are pithy Scripture affirmations that serve as a call to action in response to Jesus’ life and mission.

I AM THE WAY

I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
No darkness shall prevail.
I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
My love for you won’t fail.

Free all the innocent from their imprisonment.
Set the captives free.

I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
No darkness shall prevail.
I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
My love for you won’t fail.

For daily bread we pray, just wages, honest pay.
Let God’s justice flow.

I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
No darkness shall prevail.
I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
My love for you won’t fail.

Uncover all the lies, injustice in disguise.
Speak the truth to power.

I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
No darkness shall prevail.
I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
My love for you won’t fail.

Question the powerful, stand with the vulnerable.
Shield them with your love.

I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
No darkness shall prevail.
I am the way, I am the truth, the life.
My love for you won’t fail.

Treasure the earth and air, all creatures everywhere –
Christ the all in all.

IF YOU LOVE ME

If you love me, follow in my footsteps.
If you love me, follow in my way.
For God will send the Spirit of truth,
and I will be revealed in you.
This is how we walk on the mercy road.

If you love me, find a new direction.
If you love me, take another road.
For as I live you too shall live
in all the love that you can give.
This is how we walk on the mercy road.

I will give you refuge,
lift you up in your despair,
and you will be the same
for those I give you.

If you love me, love as I have loved you.
If you love me, love each other well.
For I shall live in all you do;
live in the love made known in you.
This is how we walk on the mercy road.

If you love me, love my whole creation.
If you love me, love this planet well.
My heart still beats in all you see,
in life and land, in air and sea.
This is how we walk on the mercy road.

Words and Music by Rod Boucher

Liturgical use: Response to the Word, Mission, Sending Out

Scripture reference/s: Year B: Mark 5:21-43

A classic Rod Boucher rocker! A call with some urgency to respond to Jesus' command to "Go!" to those who need to hear good news. And if we go? Promise of freedom, forgiveness, adventure, fulfilment - for others and for ourselves.

JESUS SAYS “GO NOW!”

Jesus says, “Go now!”
And wherever we shall go
He will go before us. (repeat)

Go to the broken, the beaten, the bold,
sing out the story our people have told
into the future and out of the past.
Promises of freedom – and glory that will last.

Jesus says, “Go now!”
And wherever we shall go
He will go before us. (repeat)

Come to the river and gather our tears,
out of the darkness, away from our fears,
over the troubles, confusion and pain.
Promise of forgiveness – a chance to start again.

Jesus says, “Go now!”
And wherever we shall go
He will go before us. (repeat)

Are we the chosen for this day and age?
Will we hear Jesus call out in the rage?
One life is given, a difference to make.
Promise of adventure – and barriers to break.

Jesus says, “Go now!”
And wherever we shall go
He will go before us. (repeat)

Now is the moment and this is the place,
turn from our selfishness, Jesus embrace.
God’s love in action one day at a time.
Promise of fulfilment – a purpose that’s divine.

Jesus says, “Go now!”
And wherever we shall go
He will go before us. (repeat)

STEP BY STEP BY STEP

Step by step by step by step
we tread the path you lay in front of us.
Patiently we wait the moment.
“Now”, you say, with timing consummate.

You know when, for you know best,
our view is small but yours is wonderful.

Time and space to play our part
in your amazing, brilliant spectacle,
intricate and yet expansive,
astoundingly hopeful chronicle.

The creation drama is your
eternal unfolding guarantee.

We will wander lost and lonely
when we choose to travel selfishly.
Blown like leaves in stormy winds
until your Spirit fills our destiny.

Jesus, we labour in vain
to build our lives, unless you’re building them.
