Words and Music by Robin Mann.

Liturgical use: Intercession (Prayers of the People)

Scripture reference/s: Year B: Psalm 139, 1 Samuel 3

A gentle, flowing song which, like the Psalms, reminds us that the rhythm of God's Creation is a sign of God's enduring love and care. A song to sing for others and for ourselves.

GOD WILL NOT FORGET YOU

Can the wind forget to blow, the tree forget to sway?
Can the sun forget to rise to start another day?
Will the bird forget to sing, the bee forget to fly?
Will a branch forget the tree, a cloud forget the sky?

God will not forget you in the dark of night.
When you cannot see the path, God will be your light.
God will not forget you when the day is long.
In the lonely, silent hour God will be your song.
God will not forget you.
God will not forget you.

Can the stars forget to shine, the moon forget to glow?
Can the planets all forget the way they have to go?
Even if the world we see should change before our eyes –
temperatures forget to fall, the seas begin to rise.

God will not forget you in the dark of night.
When you cannot see the path, God will be your light.
God will not forget you when the day is long.
In the lonely, silent hour God will be your song.

GOD’S LOVE EMBRACES ALL

We know God’s love, encompassing
the height, the breadth, the depths of life;
our praise and thanks we gladly bring
as hearts in wonder sing:
God’s love embraces all!

Love climbs the heights of joy and grace
and gifts us with each sunlit day;
the beauty of each sacred space
brings blessings we may trace:
God’s love embraces all!

Love spans the breadth of faith and fear
where questions dance with mystery,
as wisdom holds us ever near
and sings in accents clear:
God’s love embraces all!

Love sounds the depths of grief and pain
and gathers all who weep and mourn;
this loving presence will remain
and life anew sustain:
God’s love embraces all!

Love permeates this holy ground
and lights a fire of awe within;
love speaks in stillness and in sound
and shares this truth profound:
God’s love embraces all!

We know God’s love, encompassing
the height, the breadth, the depths of life;
our praise and thanks we gladly bring
as hearts in wonder sing:

LOVE MAKES A WAY

Love makes a way to open the door,
love spreads the welcome mat down on the floor,
love feeds the hungry and sits with the poor,
the greatest of all is love.

Love clothes the cold and tends to the frail,
visits the sick and the pris’ner in jail,
love sees a need and answers the call,
the greatest of all is love.

Love isn’t jealous, impatient or proud.
Love keeps no record of wrongs that are done.
True love rejoices when goodness prevails,
love never fails.

Love sees a stranger and acts as a friend,
love breaks down walls, finds bridges to mend,
love chooses life and sticks to the end,
the greatest of all is love.
The greatest of all is love.
