SPIRIT BROODING

Spirit, brooding in the silence,
stirs the emptiness to light.
Soundless booms disturb the void, and
captured mass explodes in flight.
Spirit, still you hover broody,
still this rock turns by your might,
nurtured by the heart of wisdom,
cherished at the source of life.

Holy Dove descends on Jordan,
sacred water soaked in light.
Heaven thunders, “My beloved!”
Jesus bathed in God’s delight.
Spirit’s wealth of love and beauty,
Spirit’s healing comfort shared.
Word of God, gentle and mighty,
Spirit born and Spirit fed.

Spirit brooding through the city,
hovers over those who wait;
like a drawstring brings them closer,
sends a sign beyond debate.
Tongues of fire and wind of tempest,
words beyond all knowing raised.
Celebration and vocation,
in this harmony of praise.

When we sense this world a-stirring,
waiting people lift their eyes.
Wind and flame about us whirling,
revelation undisguised.
Broody Spirit, nurture wisdom,

Step back in time to the first century as Luke and his scribe put the Gospel stories into print. This collection of drama scripts features Dr Luke narrating one of the Bible passages to his scribe Nathanael while the two have a conversation about the story behind the passage. The conversations are insightful, thought-provoking and witty.
